You will experience the atmosphere and mystery of the era of the Sultans. Your trip will take you on a visit of two of the most remarkable sites that bear evidence of the Ottoman Empire. The first stop will be the Yeni Camii Mosque, one of Istanbul’s most important mosques, built on the Golden Horn between 1597 and 1663 on the orders of the sultana Safiye, wife of Murat III. It is famous for the two minarets that rise up from the corners of the Avlu, the enormous enclosed courtyard. Your second stop will be Topkapi Palace built on the site of an ancient olive grove on the first hill, at the point in which the Bosporus, having merged with the Golden Horn, flows into the Sea of Marmara. The Palace, which was built by order of Mohammed II, was the home of the Sultans up until 1853. It was only in 1924 that the Palace, abandoned and almost in state of ruin, was transformed into a Museum.
